How Does Water Back Up In Drains!

You have probably heard about blocked drains, and you may even have had one yourself. It’s something that happens to all of us at one time or another, and can be very annoying. A blocked drain is a pipe that has become clogged with debris.

This debris will block the pipe and prevent it from draining properly. This causes water to back up into your home, which can cause problems like mold, mildew, and other health issues. You can fix a blocked drain yourself if you know how, but it is much easier if you hire a professional plumber.

What Causes Blocked Drains?

There are many things that can cause a blocked drain. If there is an object stuck in the pipe, such as a hair tie, a stone, or even a toy, then you should call a professional plumber to come out and fix it. In some cases, a tree root can also get caught in a drain pipe and cause problems. If this is the case, you should call a professional to help you unclog the pipe.

How Does A Snake Unclog Drains?

When you are ready to unclog your pipes, there are several different ways to do it.

The first way is to use a snake. A snake is a long metal tube that is inserted into the pipe to clear the debris. There are special types of snakes that are designed for different types of pipes, so make sure you know which type you need before you go to the store to buy one.

The second way is to use a plunger. Plungers work by creating suction to pull the debris out of the pipe. They are usually used when the pipe is very narrow, so you should not use them on larger pipes.

The third way to unclog a pipe is to use a pump. A pump uses a vacuum to suck the debris out of the pipe, just like a plunger. These pumps are usually powered by electricity. If you don’t want to use electricity to unclog your pipes then you can use a manual pump.

Once you have found a way to unclog your pipes you should check them again. If you still have a problem then you should call a professional plumbing company to come out and fix the problem.

Hydro Jet Rodder drain clearance in Northside Brisbane

Hydro Jet Rodder drain clearance in Northside Brisbane

Jetter The Gap

With the Hydro Jet Rodder on board, Plumbaround can clear even the toughest blocked drains.  Whilst the electric eel is a great machine to clear lines, the Jet Rodder blasts all sorts of debris free from blocked sewer and stormwater lines.

Hydro Jetting cleans drains once cleared of a blockage with a high pressure water jet at up to 35,000kpa. The jet rodder achieves this by feeding a self propelled hose with a specifically designed nozzle up the drain.

There are many places an electric eel cannot go where a jetter hose travels with ease and does the job more effectively and efficiently. We have a variety of nozzles for use and with the ability to pull through toilet pans and tight PVC gully traps.

Hydro-jetting will clear storm water lines blocked by silt, sludge and sediment build up.  The hydro-jet method penetrates the dirt and flushes the drain in one action, leaving the drain clean and free flowing.

Call the Plumbaround team today on 3038-1038 to enquire about the Hydro Jet Rodder.

Blocked Drain in Everton Park

What’s our favourite job here @ Plumbaround Pty Ltd?? A drain clearance!!  The amount of drain clearances we attend to is usually 1-2 per day.  Our young apprentice Matt is learning the ropes to clear a blocked drain with one of our Drain Cleaner Machines.

Drain ClearanceThis drain in Everton Park used 8 rods to clear, most likely right on the council connection to the property.  We pulled back large tree roots from a root penetration located at around 6 rods down the drain.  We use a specific head on the end of the drain cleaner which is able to cut the roots blocking the pipework.  Some of these roots are pulled back with the drain cleaner and others push through the line.

It’s amazing what we find hiding and blocking drains.  Things that should not be flushed but are flushed!!  The most common reason is broken pipework where a root penetration happen has happened.  Where break has occurred, if not repaired in a timely manner, the drain is highly likely to block again.  Over time the blockages worsen as does the break in the pipework.

Clearing a drain is not for the feint hearted and is usually a not so nice job but hey, someone has to do it!  Our equipment is maintained to ensure we can unblock the majority of drains and ensure the safety of our staff as well.

We are available day and night to clear blocked drains, and only a phone call away!  Please don’t hesitate to contact us.  Phone or email, we will respond straight away!!

New Drainage lines in Aspley

Plumbaround Pty Ltd has started some rectification plumbing works on a commercial property in Aspley.  The rectification works are to the drainage below the building.  Whilst the property underwent previous renovations a short while ago, the drainage lines seem to have been forgotten and not completed to the Australian Plumbing and Drainage Standards AS3500.img_7669

As you can see by the photos, there a few existing waste lines running from the commercial kitchen and are not to the Plumbing and Drainage Standard and are clearly bowing from the excessive heat running through them.

We intend to supply and install Geberit High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) which is manufactured for the purpose of discharging wastewater from greasy wastes (restaurants etc), trade waste (factories), laboratory waste, sanitary and stormwater.

Geberit HDPE is temperature resistant and can be used in drainage systems for discharge temperatures up to 80° C  and therefore suiting the purpose of this commercial property.img_7662

The job is now set to commence after a slight delay in which we consulted with a Brisbane City Council Plumbing Inspector on most efficient way to achieve the best possible outcome for this commercial premises.  Can not believe it previously passed on a plumbing inspection!

Geberit HDPE pipes and fittings are UV stabilised, and are low on maintenance.  The HDPE pipe gives out a low heat loss through the pipe wall which prevents grease and fat from solidifying on its way out to the grease trap.

Geberit HDPE has a higher abrasion resistance than metal which gives it the edge over other materials in drainage applications where abrasion effects the life of the pipework and it is extremely resistant to chemicals and solvents. Itis the ideal material for use in Trade Waste, Greasy Waste, DWV, Stormwater, Laboratory or Industrial Drainage applications.

We will post some photos once the job is completed, it will look totally different!!
