Check out this video Boxing day fun of the water leak Warwick attended to on Boxing Day 2016! 😯 😥 The leak was in a high rise in Brisbane City with no plumbing suppliers open to source parts from because of the Boxing Day public holiday. Upon arrival to the high rise building, Plumbaround Pty Ltd found a constant dripping from the ceiling from floor 22 in the corridor.
After investigation work, Warwick found there to be a split in the pipe on a bend. In an attempt to install a repair band on the damaged which is directly on the elbow (bend of the pipe), it has worsened the leak and then needed to be cut out. Without suppliers open to source the parts he needed, Warwick has had to fabricate a new bend out of what parts he had available in the truck.
The affected section of pipework has been cut out while still under pressure (hot water still flowing through the pipe) as the hot water was unable to be fully shut down. Hours later and after testing all works, the repair band was holding pressure! Exciting times, with burns to his hands and all 😥
Far from a relaxing day on the Boxing Day public holiday! Just another day @ work with Plumbaround Pty Ltd and the start of the busiest 3 weeks we have seen. We thought the lead up to Christmas was busy but that was just the beginning 🙂 🙂

Happy New Year to all our wonderful clients, partners and suppliers! We feel as though there was no real break between 2016 and 2017, although Warwick did manage to have Christmas day off though!! This has been the most hectic time of the year we’ve ever experienced and we’ve really hit the ground running for a great start to 2017!
Here are a couple of pics from a job recently over the New Year’s public holidays in Yeronga, where the property was flooding through the house. Upon investigation, we found the issue to be much bigger than first anticipated.
This is a wooden floor board removed off the back deck, underneath is basically a swimming pool in the heavy rains experienced in the area. The water pooled in so quickly and the only way the water could escape is by seeping into the inside of the property.
We attended site around 10:30pm at night. Whilst there was nothing we could instantly do in the dark and the rain, I know it put the tenants mind at ease that we were able to attend so urgently.
Trouble-shooting and problem solving plays a big part in plumbing. Our plumbers can
investigate an issue and problem solve basically on the spot for the best outcome and solution to a pressing issue.
We thank all our clients and partners for their patience over this very busy period as we endeavour to assist everyone in a timely manner, and as always we place high priority on emergencies first but we aim to attend to every job!
Please don’t hesitate to contact us day or night for all your plumbing and gas fitting needs. We are only a phone call away.

Plumbaround Pty Ltd has started some rectification plumbing works on a commercial property in Aspley. The rectification works are to the drainage below the building. Whilst the property underwent previous renovations a short while ago, the drainage lines seem to have been forgotten and not completed to the Australian Plumbing and Drainage Standards AS3500.
As you can see by the photos, there a few existing waste lines running from the commercial kitchen and are not to the Plumbing and Drainage Standard and are clearly bowing from the excessive heat running through them.
We intend to supply and install Geberit High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) which is manufactured for the purpose of discharging wastewater from greasy wastes (restaurants etc), trade waste (factories), laboratory waste, sanitary and stormwater.
Geberit HDPE is temperature resistant and can be used in drainage systems for discharge temperatures up to 80° C and therefore suiting the purpose of this commercial property.
The job is now set to commence after a slight delay in which we consulted with a Brisbane City Council Plumbing Inspector on most efficient way to achieve the best possible outcome for this commercial premises. Can not believe it previously passed on a plumbing inspection!
Geberit HDPE pipes and fittings are UV stabilised, and are low on maintenance. The HDPE pipe gives out a low heat loss through the pipe wall which prevents grease and fat from solidifying on its way out to the grease trap.
Geberit HDPE has a higher abrasion resistance than metal which gives it the edge over other materials in drainage applications where abrasion effects the life of the pipework and it is extremely resistant to chemicals and solvents. Itis the ideal material for use in Trade Waste, Greasy Waste, DWV, Stormwater, Laboratory or Industrial Drainage applications.
We will post some photos once the job is completed, it will look totally different!!

On site in Albion this week completing an RPZ repair and whilst replacing the ball valves, our Backflow Prevention Specialist /Plumber has found that the galvanised pipework on this line is in desperate need of repair. This pipe lead underground and at this stage we can’t tell how far the damage is. Plumbaround Pty Ltd will return early next week to replace the pipework for the owners of the complex.

Galvanised pipes were most commonly used in Australian homes built prior to the 1950-60’s. They are not commonly installed in homes today – due to the introduction of copper piping and the cost of producing galvanised pipes, they have been phased out in regards to new installations. Galvanised pipes are iron pipes coated with zinc – this is to prevent corrosion. Galvanised pipes were the most durable pipe available before copper was introduced – but it has been noted that over time the zinc coating actually deteriorates causing the pipe to corrode from the inside and eventually causing it to leak and then burst.

The inside of the pipes can corrode and become plugged with lime, calcium, rust and other debris.
Worse still, is that they can start to leak at any time undetected inside a wall or cupboard which leads to costly damage and the spread of mold.
Many insurance companies will not give coverage to houses with these pipes and fittings or may charge you with a premium.
